Recommendation:

After doing research on these three security programs, my recommendation is not what it was when I initially started this assignment. As a Norton user myself, it was to my own surprise that I recommend Bitdefender Antivirus as an outstanding security software. Installation is quick and includes step-by-step instructions. The process includes a pre-installation scan and doesn’t require a reboot before you’re up and running. This antivirus software is full of excellent features. It automatically uses a secure browser whenever you do online banking or shopping. The best aspect of the software is its unmatched level of security. Active Virus Control is a feature that detects and demolishes stealth threats using proactive measures to monitor all application activity.
Another way in which the product protects you from scammers is with a free credit monitoring service. I was able to find this software for different prices online; the cheapest I found it for was 29.95, as an online download.

Personal QR Code

QR Code

QR Code Research

What are QR Codes?

QR is short for Quick Response and can be read quickly by any smart device. They are used to take a any piece of information and transfer it to your smart device. Once transferred, you are able to see details about the QR Code you scanned. It may take you to a website of a company, give you facts about an ingredient in a recipe, tell you about a person, or give you a coupon for a local store.
A QR Code is an input device. You put the information wanted into a code that is then converted into electrical signals and decoded so a person can understand the information. The reason why they are more useful than a standard bar code is that they cans store (and digitally present) much more data, including URL links, geographic coordinates, and text.

How companies are using and benefiting from using this technology.

No matter how large or small the company is, there are a number of ways that a business could benefit from using a QR Code. As a business owner, you might auto generate one next to every product on your web site containing all the product details, the number to call, and the URL link to the page so they can show their friends on their smart device. You may even decide to use a QR Code on your business card that contains your contact details.

Another benefit is the fact that a QR Code can be posted anywhere. This would include Internet sites that people spend everyday on like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and MySpace. You can also add them to print advertising, flyers, posters, invites, TV ads, etc..
Here is a list of things a QR Code may contain for a business:
  • Product details
  • Contact details
  • Offer details
  • Event details
  • Competition details
  • A coupon
  • Twitter or Facebook IDs
  • A link to a YouTube video
Is there a downside?

The only downside I would see is that not everyone has a smart device, and if they do they would have to download a QR Code reader. In addition to downloading the app, if you still have a 3G signal, it may take forever for you to connect, get your app open, and wait for the scanner to take you to its destination.
